Montreal
Evolving Web is excited to announce the start of our Drupal training program. As an Acquia training partner, we will offer training in site building, module development, and theming.
After 6 months of planning, DrupalCamp Montreal finally came together mid-September. We were all really excited for how this year would pan out. With a smaller, leaner organizational team, the core group of volunteers quickly secured a location, set up a website and selected keynotes. McGill University generously provided McIntyre Medical building as our venue, and we hosted a pre-Camp code sprint at the Notman House.
With only a week to go, everyone at Evolving Web is getting ready for DrupalCamp Montreal. This will be our fourth Camp so far, and we’re proud to be Platinum sponsors of the event. The Camp will feature keynotes by Angie ‘webchick’ Byron and Jen Simmons, 26 sessions on topics ranging from open data to theming, and a multilingual code sprint.
This Wednesday, Whisky Echo Bravo held the first ever Montreal Drupal BBQ at their office on the Lachine Canal.
We're live! DrupalCampMontreal.com is now up and open for registrations to this year's Camp. Create your account now to propose sessions and BOFs. Last weekend, five members of our team went down to Boston for the third annual Drupal Design Camp. Held on the MIT campus at the Stata Center, the camp was a great success, extremely well organized, and lots of fun to attend. On the drive back to Montreal, I was thinking about why Drupal Camp is so important to both building a local Drupal community, and to fostering the talents of individuals.
Montreal's March Drupal Meetup was held this past Wednesday at Notman House, a co-working space and hub for entrepreneurship and tech innovation in Montreal. I think the exciting new venue was at least partly responsible for the fantastic turnout of 28 Drupal enthusiasts.
Last week, Alex and I spoke on a McGill Alumni Panel 'Maximize Social Media in Business', organized by the McGill Young Alumni. Based on the panel's discussion, I've put together a list of advice for small businesses that are just getting started with their social media strategy.
The Montreal Drupal community came out in full force earlier this week for our first meetup of the year. In addition to the familiar faces from Whisky Echo Bravo, McGill University, Espeo and other companies, were some newer members like Ryan Weal and Geoff Brown. On the agenda was Drupal7 and other projects that people had worked on since our last meeting.
We had a very busy weekend at DrupalCamp Montreal over the past two days. All the sponsors and lots of volunteers from the community came together to make the event a success. About 200 attendees showed up, some from as far away as Boston and Guelph. We've certainly grown a lot as a community since our first camp of about 50 people in 2008.
